Currently the scale option for backgrounds is a "scale to fit." whether the image is wider or taller than the presentation view it fits the whole thing. You need an option for "Scale to fill" where the image will scale up until the narrowest dimension touches the edges of the display. That way I won't need to crop photos before using them as backgrounds.
